As you may have gathered, 100 to One is not your run-of-the-mill operation. The brand is built on a core ethos of creating extremely limited runs of thoughtfully designed jewels. After all, the name of the brand itself is a direct reflection of this principle – there will only ever be a maximum of 100 of each design ever made. This choice imbues a sentimental nature into the pieces – rather than being churned out in bulk according to what’s trending, each run of jewellery is treated more like an exclusive keepsake. Items like the reversible lover ring bring a sweet reminder to the wearer of someone special in their life, which is a feeling that Jana is proud to help create.
When it comes to manufacturing, 100 of One is unique in the fact that Jana utilises her skills from within the dental industry to craft her pieces out of her Wollongong studio. Jana’s naturally meticulous attention to detail, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination have combined with self-taught techniques from books and Youtube to create a process ensures each piece of jewellery is truly bespoke. The latest range of designs for the brand further incorporates Jana’s roots, utilising hand-moulded dental wax (complete with fingerprints) to create one-of-a-kind silver and gold rings. Moving forward, Jana has expanded the 100 of One team to include some fellow talented Sydney jewellers who are experts in their respective disciplines, as well as engaging in computer-aided design (CAD) to push her designs even further.
