The best pairings happen between likeminded individuals with a shared vision, which is exactly how the Apartment x Parliament collaboration came about. The owners of both stores had already been friends for quite a while before Parliament opened earlier this year, with talks of a joint collection on the cards for months before it actually eventuated into the product we see today. The idea was to create a visual concept that united both of the stores, as they share a distinct ethos geared towards supporting local and independent design. Above all, both Parliament and Apartment are committed contributors to Brisbane’s thriving community, which is directly reflected in the offering that is put forward.
The Apartment x Parliament collaboration was spearheaded by the creative teams from both stores, with all staff members contributing stylistic input. The vision was to create something that was relatable to each store individually that would also appeal to the clientele of both stores, and quite frankly they’ve nailed it. One of the tees is a nostalgic nod to 80s/90s youth culture, featuring a retro print from a Bulls v Suns NBA game overlaid with a joint logo that reflects the similar lettering in both store names. The other tee is an homage to Brisbane, with a large back print marking the geographic locations of each store. There is also a white porcelain ashtray available, because why not?
The Apartment x Parliament collection is currently flying off the shelves – if you want to get your hot little hands on one of the pieces you can do so online through the Apartment and Parliament websites, or pop into either store for a look.
