Welcome back – Arnsdorf launches its return to business with signature timeless style

Fashion can seem like such a fickle thing – trends come and go, leaving labels to churn out products that hit the brief for what’s hot right now but often missing the mark on longevity. One label that picked up on this cycle and decided to step away was Arnsdorf, a beloved Melbourne-via-New-York-based brand that took a break from the troubled fashion industry to return better than ever with a renewed sense of purpose. Armed with ethical practises and quality products, Arnsdorf is a direct affront to the broken cycle it fled from.

When Jade Sarita Arnott established Arnsdorf in 2006, she had a vision to combine a number of her interests into an ongoing exploration of the human condition. Utilising her background and training in visual arts and fashion design, Jade built the label around archetypal garments that reflect day-to-day life, honing in on a sophisticated and modern aesthetic. After a strong six years in the Australian fashion industry, Jade made the tactical move to put Arnsdorf on hiatus – her frustration with a fundamentally flawed fashion cycle, a retail downturn sweeping the nation and wanting to spend more time with her family solidified the decision.

Fast-forward to the present day and we have Arnsdorf’s renaissance in the form of Release 1, a stunning collection of pieces that marry function and aesthetic perfectly. The signature Arnsdorf design principles remain, with production based on a model of transparency – each piece is designed and produced internally from the new factory in Melbourne. Stylistically, pioneering women have been a big inspiration for Release 1. Modernist icon and famed architect Eileen Gray was a direct influence, with the curved lines of her furniture design making their way to garment necklines in the collection. Elements of capsule collections and chic pieces with longevity are evident throughout – the jackets, dresses, pants and jumpsuits are made to stay with you for life.
