Hold on to your helmets, friends – e-bikes are set to join Brisbane’s shared e-scooter program this July, with Brisbane City Council announcing this week that operators Neuron Mobility and Beam have been awarded three-year contracts following a competitive tender process. The two companies have been awarded contracts for both e-bikes and e-scooters with 800 electric bicycles and 2000 electric scooters to be let loose around the city from Thursday July 22.
The e-bikes and e-scooters, which were selected for their top-of-the-line safety features and state-of-the-art technology, will replace council’s CityCycle scheme and as well as the popular green Lime e-scooters across the city (goodnight, sweet prince). Instead, we will now be greeted with a rainbow wheel of purple and orange-hued two-wheelers from New Farm to South Brisbane. Ready to scoot-toot-toot around town? Remember to pop on a helmet when these bad boys launch next month.
