Transform recycled materials into contemporary jewellery at a Bianca Mavrick workshop

One of Brisbane’s most innovative jewellers will be leading a DIY tutorial this month, helping local crafters to fashion recycled materials into bespoke pieces.

Give your old bits ‘n’ bobs a fresh chance at glory by transforming them into feature pieces at the Jewellery Assemblage with Bianca Mavrick Workshop. Running from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday April 27, the hands-on class will see Brisbane’s beloved Bianca Mavrick share her finest tricks with participants at the Institute of Modern Art. Choose from a diverse range of post-industrial materials sourced from Reverse Garbage or your own home, to design and create new assemblages or rework an old favourite.

The local design maestro will guide you through the planning and construction stages to give new life to recycled plastic, metal, leather and more, using lo-fi techniques. Bianca’s designs are well known for their eccentricity and offbeat nature – the perfect ingredients to help you craft your own custom piece. All materials at the Bianca Mavrick workshop will be provided, or you can choose to bring along any broken jewellery pieces or small recycled household items to use. This class has sold out in the past, so get in quick to secure your place.
