Groovy, baby – Billionaire Boys Club’s latest drop goes subtly psychedelic

By all accounts, the 1960s were a pretty wild time – the Vietnam War was raging and the American youth were revolting against the violence around them by advocating for peace. From this counterculture sprang the hippie movement, and with it came a whole new wave of fashion. Free love and flower power were the name of the game, with many followers of the movement wearing their hearts on their sleeves via tangible symbols of tolerance and pacification. It is this time period that has influenced the Billionaire Boys Club’s Fall 2017 drop, infusing touches of the era with its own signature aesthetic.

If you’re not familiar with Billionaire Boys Club, let us fill you in – it’s the brand helmed by hip-hop mogul and all-around legend Pharrell Williams, a dude responsible for pulling together many a strong look. Pharrell has always been seen as a forward thinker and innovator in the fashion scene, which is reflected in the Billionaire Boys Club label. The streetwear is a vehicle for Pharrell’s own creative self-expression, often infused with sharp cultural references but always maintaining a solid and recognisable look.

The Billionaire Boys Club fall 2017 drop stays true to the brand’s core aesthetic, making use of vibrant graphics and patterns on brightly coloured pieces. Camouflage prints, flannel and distressed denim all make an appearance in the capsule, as well as a neat dip-dye technique for staple BBC logo tees. Carrying on with the 1960s theme, plenty of the items in the collection are adorned with peace, love and unity symbols in a patch-style application, emulating the bright and carefree aesthetic of the era.

If you’re feeling the need for some hippie vibes, you can shop the new Billionaire Boys Club collection (plus all of the old faves) via the online store.
