Brisbane Distillery Company begins production of alcohol-based hand sanitiser

With grocery stores and chemists selling out of hand sanitiser quicker than you can say 'antibacterial', it was only a matter of time until things were taken into local hands. Enter Brisbane Distillery Company, which is bridging the literal gap in the (super) market by filling it with its first batch of locally made hand sanitiser.

To help combat the spread of coronavirus, Brisbane Distillery Company are swapping out some of their craft-booze making time to deliver the goods the community needs – sweet, sweet hand sanitiser. After communications with Queensland’s COVID-19 taskforce and hearing from friends who work in the healthcare industry that stocks of hand sanitiser were running low, owner and head distiller Jon Atherton decided to change up his usual gin-making routine – repurposing products and equipment to help out the frontline healthcare workers as well as the broader community.

Healthcare workers will be able to purchase the hospital-grade sanitiser for a discounted price of $16 per litre (upon presentation of a business card or professional registration on collection at the Brisbane Distillery in West End), while the public can purchase 500mL bottles with a maximum purchase quantity of four per customer. Hop onto the Brisbane Distillery Company’s website to order a batch of this liquid gold – and while you’re there, you might as well order a bottle (or two) of gin to tide you through the next couple of months of social distancing.
