Siblings of style – Calexico Man unveils its dapper new digs

Any Brisbane gal who doesn’t mind a bit of luxe retail therapy would no doubt be familiar with Calexico – the Fortitude Valley fashion mainstay has been saving our wardrobes with its signature edit of designer threads since 2010. Not one to rest on its effortlessly cool laurels, the Calexico brand is expanding its empire to include an offering that caters to the opposite sex. Opening up right across the road from its female-focused sibling, Calexico Man has arrived on James Street as a premier destination for all things menswear.

When it comes to Calexico Man, you best believe that equal amounts of skill and passion have gone into the project. Built on the foundation that men’s dressing should be a fuss-free affair, the retailer is the brainchild of Calexico director Nicky Charman. Nicky’s background in men’s fashion drove her to create a store that was not just about the clothes, but also about the experience. Service is paramount, with the store offering the help of trained stylists and tailors to ensure that every piece sold is perfect for the body it will be hanging on.

So what sort of labels are we talking, here? The offering at Calexico Man is built around bringing the best from international designers to right here in Brisbane. The shop will stock a seriously diverse selection of men’s denim alongside sneakers, tees and basics from globally respected labels such as Rag & Bone, Theory, Vince, Saturdays NYC, Acne, American Vintage and Philippe Model just to name a few. There will be an emphasis on quality basics – the sort of pieces that will anchor any wardrobe for years to come.

Calexico Man will open on Saturday October 28. To celebrate, the store has teamed up with local artist Jake Reston for a James Street RESORT exclusive. Jake will be in store on opening day installing a live art mural, with the first 200 customers in store on the day receiving a free print.
