Spring has sprung and so too has Windsor's retail scene. Following hot on the heels of The Borrowed Nursery's recent expansion to Colwill Place is Foliar – a cosy florist concept specialising in custom bouquets, ceramic vessels and skincare.

When Lauren Lance signed on to bring her Mermaid Beach-born plant and pot store The Borrowed Nursery to Colwill Place, the expansion came with an unexpected extra opportunity. While The Borrowed Nursery snagged a vacant mechanic’s shed behind the redeveloped Windsor icon for its Brisbane home, Lauren was also able to lay claim to a small corner tenancy at the end of the retail strip. It’s here that she’s opened Foliar – a chic flower and gift store that acts as a colourful complementary outlet to her leaf-laden nursery. As the smallest of Colwill Place’s Lutwyche Road-facing shopfronts, Lauren and her team have endeavoured to make the space feel as big as possible. KTS Building was recruited to make good on Lauren’s vision while also incorporating original structural elements. As such, the entire space follows a crisp, minimal palette, with white-tiled counter tops, white shelves and white cabinets accentuated by brass fixtures, serving to heighten and draw attention to the colour provided by the flowers, vessels and gifts – adding plenty of vibrancy to balance the shop’s pared-back aesthetic.

Foliar’s floral range includes a multitude of varieties and colours, with all blooms sourced fresh from local growers. The store offers a selection of lush pre-made bouquets for those looking for some wow factor, as well as smaller seasonal market bunches perfect for impulse buys. Lining the shelves is a selection of eye-catching ceramic vessels from Marmoset Found, essential oil-infused hand, body and haircare products from Leif, and handcrafted bath bombs from Sowkh. Soon, Foliar will also be assembling gift hampers as well as launching phone orders for local pick up and delivery. Foliar is currently open from Monday to Saturday, but select blooms will be found at The Borrowed Nursery on Sundays. Head to the Stumble Guide for opening hours and contact details.
