Brisbane’s hotel landscape grows with the opening of Hyatt Regency Brisbane on Queen Street

One sure-fire indicator of a city's growth and standing as a tourist hub is its abundance of top-notch hotels. With this metric in mind, Brisbane City has positively flourished in recent years, with a steady influx of globally renowned operators carving out territory in The City. Joining the ranks of Brisbane's cadre of accommodation options is Hyatt Hotels Corporation, which has secured some prime real estate on Queen Street Mall for Hyatt Regency – its first Brisbane location. The hotel opened today, Monday February 1 – take a look inside ...

Whether we’re travelling abroad or indulging in some luxury a little bit closer to home, when it comes to selecting accommodation, location always tops our list of priorities. Situated in the thick of Brisbane’s inner city, newcomer Hyatt Regency Brisbane already scores top marks when it comes to convenient location and proximity to local attractions. Taking over the site formerly home to NEXT Hotel Brisbane, Hyatt Regency Brisbane is the first Brisbane hotel for parent company Hyatt Hotels Corporation, which has partnered with global fund manager Salter Brothers to bring the brand to the heart of Brisbane’s CBD. Today’s opening also marks a return to Queensland for the Hyatt brand, which operated locations in Coolum and Sanctuary Cove until 2012, and precedes the 2023 opening of Hyatt Place Hotel at South City Square.

Although a rebrand has already taken place, the Hyatt team will soon undertake a refurbishment process to apply a signature touch to the building’s existing features, which include 292 guest rooms, public areas, event spaces, meeting and working spaces and dining venues. Speaking of which, the hotel’s stunning pool bar (situated several levels above Queen Street and boasting a 20-metre infinity-edge pool) is still operating, as is all-day eatery Lennons Restaurant & Bar. Those looking for vacation or staycation accommodation can book a room at Hyatt Regency Brisbane now – hit the website to check rates and availabilities.
