Ethical label Khòlò releases tote collab collection for Refugee Week 2019

Refugee Week 2019 officially launched last Sunday June 16 as a way to help educate the public and celebrate positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society. One Melbourne brand has joined the cause.

Sustainably minded fashion label Khòlò is doing its bit to help those less fortunate, with the release of a series of tote bags just in time for Refugee Week 2019. An impressive 100 percent of profits from the tote bag sales will be donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), to help provide food, housing, healthcare and legal support to people who would otherwise be at risk of destitution. The label has joined forces with three Australian artists, who each created an adornment for the front of the bags. Lily Zielinski and Lucy Hearn from Peaches + Keen, Laura Blythman and Megan Weston have all lent their artistic skills to the bags, which are crafted from cotton canvas by Sedex- and ISO-approved makers. Each tote also comes with a clever little inner slip for your keys and wallet.

Melbourne-based Khòlò produces a range of clothing and accessories, ranging from silk maxis and gingham skirts to handmade neckpieces and beaded headbands. Focusing on the little details and the ethics and sustainability behind fashion production, Khòlò works with manufacturers dedicated to paying fair wages and operating safe work environments. The label incorporates a lot of dead stock and natural fibres into its designs, while also paying close attention to inclusive sizing and giving its wearers more #PastaSpace for post-meal comfort (please and thank you). Snap up the ASRC collaboration totes and check out the full Khòlò range online.
