When it comes to axe throwing in Australia, Maniax is the OG name you should know. Since opening the country’s first axe throwing warehouse in Sydney in 2014, owner Adam Schilling has expanded his empire to Melbourne and now Brisbane with a shiny new space on Doggett Street in Newstead. The venue itself was chosen for its distinct Queensland features – we’re talking wooden floorboards and weatherboard cladding to keep it legit. Renowned artist Sindy Sinn has painted a badass mural and spread his distinctive art throughout the space, adding an extra edge and cool vibes to spare.
Maniax Axe Throwing has gone above and beyond to provide a unique experience for everyone, catering to all sorts of groups with a range of packages and options. All booked events include use of a private lane for two hours with your own specialist coach to show you the ropes (think darts, but with axes instead). There will be no bickering over who comes out on top, as the lanes are equipped with digital score boards for maximum bragging rights. The Brisbane location is the first in the company’s portfolio to offer walk-in lanes, where you can roll in for an hour of power without pre-booking. Oh, and Maniax has also got some of the amazing local food and beverage vendors on board to collaborate with its corporate packages – think Newstead Brewing Co., Green Beacon, Betty’s Burgers and more.
Maniax Axe Throwing is opening on Saturday November 10 with a huge party that includes free (yes, free) axe throwing so you can try it out. There will also be delicious slow-cooked meats from The Wofty Possum to keep the crowds satiated, so head on down for a killer time.
