Work up an appetite for fashion with Naomi Murrell’s Hungry Heart collection

Try as you might, it is damn near impossible to resist the allure of Italian culture – it’s bright, chic and effortlessly carefree, making it the perfect inspiration point for fashion. It was from these core principles that Adelaide label Naomi Murrell’s latest collection Hungry Heart was born, taking cues from Henri Matisse papercuts, pizzeria decor and a hefty dose of pure romanticism. One look at this range will have you working up a serious sartorial appetite.

Back in 2009, Naomi Murrell was freelancing as a graphic designer and illustrator when she decided she needed a creative outlet to express herself without being bound by a client brief. From there Naomi Murrell the label has flourished, building a cult following among those who appreciate detailed and thoughtful design. The label develops two capsule collections each year, with garments and accessories that go through a lengthy process to ensure that the designs are just right. Everything is ethically manufactured and produced in super limited runs, with the label valuing quality over quantity every time.

So let’s chat Hungry Heart, the killer new collection from Naomi Murrell. This eye-catching but super classic collection features a signature print that conveys the Italian influence without being too obvious. A neutral base palette is complemented by pops of persimmon and peony in the Matisse-inspired terrazzo print, featuring on the Negroni wrap dress and Bella top. The lush and diverse range of fabrics at play means there is something on offer for every season – from rayon and silk crepe de chine to cotton gingham and even Italian viscose, it’s a total dream for layering. The awesome turtlenecks that you see in this drop also have the added cool factor of being produced with a knitting mill in the label’s hometown of Adelaide – snaps for supporting local industries!

If you could use a little Roman holiday, you can shop Naomi Murrell’s Hungry Heart collection online (as well as her other fab offerings).
