Suburban cinema steps it up with the arrival of Reading Cinema in Newmarket

We’ve made much ado about the resurgence of cinema in Brisbane this year, but it bears repeating – the big screen is as popular as ever. Following the high-profile openings of the Elizabeth Picture Theatre and the new Dendy at Coorparoo Square, Reading Cinemas at Newmarket Village has arrived and is staking its claim in the movie-going scene.

There’s nothing quite like kicking back with a serve of popcorn larger than your head, a cold drink and a choc-top and taking in the latest blockbuster. Sounds pretty good, right? Unfortunately for those outside of The City or uncomfortably far from the large megaplex cinemas, options are limited. As an early Christmas present, Newmarket locals were blessed with a cinema of its own as part of the redevelopment of Newmarket Village, meaning that those in the inner west can now enjoy a genuine cinematic experience without having to head into town.

Reading Cinema at Newmarket Village boasts eight screens, which includes two super luxurious theatres for those seeking a little bit extra indulgence. The Titan Luxe theatre features recliner seats, Dolby Atmos 360-degree immersive sound, a huge 23-metre screen and dine-in food options. The Gold Lounge encompasses a spacious lounging area and an outdoor terrace as well as recliner seats and an in-cinema food and beverage offering. With the holidays well and truly here (and the summer heat sending us all in search of air-conditioned entertainment), it seems as if Reading Cinemas has arrived just in time.
