Going somewhere? Pack smarter and lighter with Tasi Travels

Whether you're an intrepid traveller with an incurable case of wanderlust or you're just planning a getaway without loads of baggage, Tasi Travels has you covered (literally) with clothing designed for suitcases. The jet-set inspired collection has been consciously created for those times when you need versatile pieces that breathe and roll neatly into a backpack.

The conundrum of what to pack is undoubtedly one that faces all travellers but can be further exacerbated when your impending adventure has some pretty location-specific challenges. That’s the situation that faced Jess Abraham when she set out to explore Atauro Island in Timor-Leste in late 2016. For those who have not yet had the pleasure, the climate is hot and humid and the culture is conservative and yet everything Jess owned was either made of a material that was too thick, or it wrinkled too easily, or it didn’t dry quickly enough or didn’t have appropriate coverage. It was from sheer frustration that Tasi Travels was born.

Meaning ocean in the local Tetun language, Tasi combines minimalism, practicality and style. The brand is based on a philosophy of travelling light, in being able to pack less, but better. Each piece is versatile and designed to be appropriate for both conservative cultures and hot climates, offering coverage as well as relief from the heat with light, breathable materials. Tasi’s pieces are made from tencel, which is regenerated from wood cellulose so is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics available and is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen – in short, it’s the perfect travel companion. Tencel also dries quickly, doesn’t wrinkle and is blissfully breathable. Tasi aims to create a community of wanderers and offers threads for men and women. Each piece is also handmade in Australia.
