If you're pretty sick of seeing the same rehashed stories pop up across every possible platform (except ours, of course) or are just in the mood for something a little meatier, sink your teeth into theFold by Double Double – it's an online magazine that delves deep and dishes up critical perspectives on contemporary culture, broadly defined.

When two iconic Brisbane retailers (and pals) Violent Green and Apartment joined forces to create Double Double, the fashion world applauded. Since then, the super-boutique in Queen Street has become a home for all things street fashion and creative in Brisbane and is known for pushing the envelope of creativity. Now, the union has created a literary lovechild affectionally known as theFold.

Tackling topics including the use of gunmetal grey as a tool of gentrification, the history of camouflage on the human body and coffee-fuelled chats with singer/songwriter Wafia, it’s fair to say theFold is not your run-of-the-mill online magazine, but then again, if you’ve stepped foot inside Double Double that should come as no surprise. The online ‘zine features critical and exploratory writing on left-of-centre topics from the worlds of fashion, film and music and rather than the same reworked pieces, you’ll find thought-provoking, interesting yarns and considered long-takes. Take a peek next time you’re in the mood for something a little unexpected.
