When two iconic Brisbane retailers (and pals) Violent Green and Apartment joined forces to create Double Double, the fashion world applauded. Since then, the super-boutique in Queen Street has become a home for all things street fashion and creative in Brisbane and is known for pushing the envelope of creativity. Now, the union has created a literary lovechild affectionally known as theFold.
Tackling topics including the use of gunmetal grey as a tool of gentrification, the history of camouflage on the human body and coffee-fuelled chats with singer/songwriter Wafia, it’s fair to say theFold is not your run-of-the-mill online magazine, but then again, if you’ve stepped foot inside Double Double that should come as no surprise. The online ‘zine features critical and exploratory writing on left-of-centre topics from the worlds of fashion, film and music and rather than the same reworked pieces, you’ll find thought-provoking, interesting yarns and considered long-takes. Take a peek next time you’re in the mood for something a little unexpected.
