Butler Wine Bar is the after-dark sibling of South Brisbane’s Lune Croissanterie – a neighbourhood local specialising in community vibes, casual comfort and conscientious consumption. The Lune Co team – Kate and Cameron Reid and Melbourne restaurateur Nathan Toleman – are looking to establish an all-are-welcome appeal through accessible price points and personable service. Hogg & Lamb is again assisting on the design of the 50-sqm venue, which will boast a 15-seater bar and a cluster of cosy banquettes inside, while outdoor seats will be licensed and activated to become a breezy alfresco addition. Butler Wine Bar will rep local across both food and beverage menus, with a built-in directive to champion seasonality and sustainability where possible. Butler’s menu of eats will be deliberately short, but focused – cheeses, snacks, small plates and larger-format dishes will be wrought from locally supplied Queensland produce, with pickling and fermentation methods employed to get the full life out of every item. Butler’s close-t0-home ethos also extends to its wine list, which will showcase an assortment of Queensland and Australian producers at an accessible price point. A tight cocktail list will also be driven by seasonality, with spirits from local distillers filtering into tall and juicy concoctions that reflect Brisbane’s balmy climate.
Butler Wine Bar is set to open in mid-November.
