Coffee Head Co. is a handy caffeine spot and bar located a mere stone’s throw from Melbourne Street and Musgrave Park. Owners Cassie and Pablo have set about establishing their vision for their dream coffee haunt – a space that blended ethical practices with top-notch brews and bites, plus a sprinkling of aesthetic influences from Pablo’s own Peruvian heritage. Coffee Head Co. more than fills a need for all-day caffeine injections – the nook is open and brewing until the early evening, seven days a week. Since opening in March 2019, patrons have come to roost within Coffee Head Co.’s lived-in interior, which boasts bookshelves (with books for sale), comfy furniture and a great atmosphere. During the day folks can soak up the sun in the adjoining laneway area, or simply stop by for a grab-and-go boost from the coffee window. Speaking of coffee, espresso, filter and cold-drip brews are on offer – as well as all the best milk substitutes. Non-coffee drinkers can also sip on handcrafted tea from the Sunshine Coast, gourmet hot chocolate from Mörk, lucuma hot chocolates and organic matcha lattes, all while snacking on treats from Stella Pastry. In December 2020, the venue expanded into nighttime trading, opening a bar on site that operates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Coffee Head Co.’s drinks list spotlights a rotating selection of Australian sips, from small-batch distilleries and local craft breweries to Australian wine makers that specialise in organic, biodynamic, low-intervention and experimental drops. The bar’s cocktail list will pay homage to the venue’s coffee roots, featuring an espresso martini concocted using freshly extracted organic espresso (another cocktail will boasts the inclusion of top-shelf pisco). Snacks will take the shape of a tapas-style offering as well as more substantial burgers made using ethically sourced free-range protein.
