The team behind popular eateries Mucho Mexicano, Olé, The Sangria Bar and formerly Ahmet’s Bulimba opened Downtown Istanbul on Hawthorne Road in late July, 2016 – fleshing out the dining selection surrounding the Hawthorne Cinema Gold Class premises. The venue blends a modern and contemporary fit out with a few Turkish-inspired touches. An open-plan seating arrangement makes maximum use of space, with plenty of greenery on hand to add a fresh touch to the dining area. Downtown Istanbul’s menu is divided up into several sections – each filled with delectable dishes. Mezze plates, burgers (lunch only), salads, Turkish pide, char-grilled meats, desserts and authentic gözlemes feature, with breakfast and takeaway service to be added in the coming months. Turkish beer is available alongside some local brews, as is wine and a curated selection of Turkish-themed cocktails. Gym packs will also be on offer in the near future, with a selection of proteins, sides and sauces available for those needing to refuel.
