Tarragindi locale Esher St Cafe & Deli employs the ethos that everything in-store is made or sourced from locals – keeping the origins of the products known, the food miles down and growing local business. On the shelves you’ll find coveted brands such as Alter Ego chocolate, Secret Pantry relishes and conserves, Mama Marilena biscuits, Farmer Jo’s muesli, Food Jeanie peanut paste and tubs of honey from hives in Annerley. The owners have fashioned the space themselves, building shelving inside and seating outside from recycled wooden pallets. The beautiful wooden floors and lighting hanging from a vintage ladder continues the rustic homely feel. The extra space allows the locale to stock a range of homewares and gifts as well. Esher St serves breakfast and lunch, accompanied by West End-roasted Veneziano coffee. Early morning visitors can pick up a fresh loaf of bread for their morning toast, or stock up on cheeses, cured meats, dips and olives for an impromptu picnic.
