Brisbane City’s bar scene grew in 2022 with the arrival of whisky-soaked boozer Frog’s Hollow Saloon. Operated by a trio of industry veterans, who have teamed up to create a venue that puts customer service and phenomenal independent booze at the forefront, the bar is bringing a bit of life to one of The City’s quieter bar-bereft strips. Frog’s Hollow is situated in the sturdy brick John Reid & Nephews building on Charlotte Street, with a 60-seater venue boasting exposed brick and recycled timber that highlight’s the venue’s heritage aspects. Operationally, the Frog’s Hollow crew is eager to employ a bar-centric service model as opposed to table service, encouraging patrons and staff to chat and connect in an interactive-yet-laid-back dynamic. The all-important booze offering will be headlined by a deep selection of whisky (with a focus on independently bottled labels), a tight wine list favouring Australian producers, a rotating selection of of beers (including XXXX Gold and Guinness on tap) and a selection of fun and fresh cocktails. Those that feel like a nibble can munch on a range of simple snacks designed by Jamie Fleming from Alba Bar & Deli, with functional bites like nuts, jerky, devilled eggs, chicken soup, sardines and beef sandwiches pairing perfectly alongside a cold beverage.
