Tucked in a little nook off James Street, through the laneway and across the carpark, Gerard’s Bar is the stylish drinks-oriented sibling of Gerard’s Bistro. After years serving top-notch libations and choice charcuterie to locals, Gerard’s Bar enacted a pivot in 2020 under the guiding hand of executive chef Adam Wolfers. Adam has implemented a new menu filled with flavours influenced by the chef’s own adventures abroad, his Jewish heritage and the various (esteemed) restaurants he has worked in throughout his career. Culinarily curious diners can expect a selection of mezze such as chickpea miso hummus, house-made shanklish (Middle Eastern cheese), aged tahini and wagyu basturma served with freshly baked woodfired laffa bread. Pick at a selection of snacks such as swordfish falafel, freshly shucked oysters and fried kibbeh before wrapping your mitts around a mouthwatering manoushe (kebab) stuffed with your choice of cheese, meat with fine herbs and lemon, chicken with toum, pickles and zoug or felafel. Finish your feast with a taste of traditional desserts including Turkish delight and labne malabi with strawberries. As for the drinks, Gerard’s Bar boasts a bevy of cocktails, including signatures such as Gerard’s G&T and Delightful Turk, available alongside a focused wine and beer offering that champions Australian producers and brewers.
