Paddington welcomed its own ramen joint with open arms in March 2016, with Hai Hai Ramen quickly setting itself as a local favourite from the get-go. Serving quality bowls of noodle soup in addition to other Japanese fare, Hai Hai Ramen is a great spot to enjoy a bit of warming goodness or a light dinner option. The menu includes three types of ramen – a pork tonkotsu variety with pork bone broth, charsiu pork belly, black garlic oil and hanjuku egg, a chicken verierty with shio koji chicken, chicken and dashi broth and tsukemono pickles and a final vegetarian ramen with kelp and shitaki broth, tofu and greens. Each ramen comes with either a shio (salt) or shoyu (soy) broth – salt offering a simpler and cleaner taste while soy is sweeter and richer. Those who are after something other than ramen are catered for, with steam buns boasting either charsiu pork of tofu katsu available alongside sweetcorn with miso butter and chicken karrage with koji marinade and yuzu kewpie. All options are available to takeaway, with a lunch service to come in the near future.
