Famed Melbourne-born specialty coffee outfit Industry Beans arrived in Brisbane in late 2019, delivering its style of transparent and accessible hospitality. The highly regarded roaster’s Newstead hub is nothing short of impressive, and is a spot that has coffee fanatics flipping their lids in amazement. The sizeable venue boasts a 144-seat cafe, a sizeable roasting operation and a greenhouse filled with coffee trees, not to mention function spaces, wholesale operations, offices and training facilities. Industry Beans looks to provide an all-encompassing coffee experience, where sippers will be able to experience every step of the process from bean to brew. Melbourne-based architectural and interior design practice Design Office has shaped the aesthetic of both Brisbane and Sydney venues, implementing a light and bright design at the Newstead space, with lots of greenery, cleanliness and attention to detail that reflects Industry Beans’ considered approach to coffee. The coffee bar offers drops for espresso and filter drinkers, alongside other coffee-infused beverages, juices, teas and more. The morning brunch selection is balanced between familiar classics and adventurous gems, with savvy seasonal tweaks maintaining a narrative throughout the menu. Highlights of the launch menu include porcini egg in a kohlrabi nest, fruit sashimi, coffee-rubbed wagyu burgers, ginger-beer pork belly and espresso-glazed beef ribs. In a first for Industry Beans, the Newstead location is open for night trading, showcasing an evening menu of snacks (truffled porcini croquettes), small plates (coffee-rubbed fried quail, black-rice prawns) and larger dishes (sous-vide salmon garden). The bar range includes a comprehensive wine list, craft beer from Green Beacon BrewingBallistic Beer Co and Fortitude Brewing, and signature cocktails such as a cold-brew negroni, sour coffee fizz, and the Newstead espresso martini.
