If we had a dollar for the amount of times we daydreamed about escaping to the streets of Paris for a gastronomic adventure, we’d probably have enough to afford the plane fare. Alas, this dream seems out of reach for now, but thankfully some enterprising French expats are committed to bringing restaurant quality food to us. Ma Petite Cuisine is a food truck concept founded by hospitality veterans John and Camille, who have worked extensively in the industry (John himself working as a pastry chef for 26 years), and decided to make a mobile kitchen to serve their take on French cuisine as street food. The signature dish is the beef bourguignon, which boasts slow-cooked oyster blade with red wine sauce, speck and mushrooms served on mashed potato, green beans and garlic bread. Other bites include three-cheese toasties (topped with French goat cheese), croque monsieurs, and a variety of pastries including lemon tarts and cheesecake with raspberry coulis and almond cream. All the goods from Ma Petite Cuisine are homemade from specially sourced ingredients, with bread coming from a bona fide French baker. You can find Ma Petite Cuisine every Friday and Saturday at the Boundary Street Market and at other foodie events around town.
