Museum of Brisbane first opened in October 2003, replacing the existing Brisbane City Gallery. After a short stint set along Ann Street, the museum returned to the newly restored Brisbane City Hall, settling in to the top floor of the heritage building. Housing five galleries, a theatrette, and the Dome Lounge, Museum of Brisbane showcases exhibitions that focus on the identity of Brisbane – the place, its history, people and culture – as well as hosting a dedicated program of conversation series and events. In its ten years of operation, the museum has seen more than three million visitors enjoy more than 120 exhibitions, and offers views of two of the building’s most prized features – the clock tower and copper dome.
