Beloved family-owned Coorparoo cafe Belesis Cafe Restaurant on Old Cleveland Road underwent some changes in 2019. After the establishment’s original owner Daniel Bellas retired in April 2019 after 19 years of operating the cafe, his son Mark gamely stepped up to helm the venue’s next phase, continuing the cafe’s wholesome spirit in its new guise as Ninebar + Kitchen. Having grown up in and around the restaurant (and working as a fruit and vegetable supplier to some of Brisbane’s best cafes), Mark boasts his fair share of hospitality experience, and relished the opportunity to return to his roots with a classic offering forged from seasonal and sustainable ingredients. Ninebar + Kitchen serves recognisable breakfast and lunch dishes with some flavoursome tweaks thrown into the mix (as well as coffee from Fonzie Abbott), while also bringing back old Belesis favourites – including the famed chicken pesto linguine! The venue boasts space for more than 80 patrons, with Mark and his team giving the venue a crisp and greenery laden overhaul.
