What some would conceive to be a Fortitude Valley institution, Ric’s Bar is a non-stop hive of activity each and every weekend. A dark cavern of sticky floors and excellent music, the bar is a well-known destination to visit for enjoying a jive to a mixture of indie songs and rock ‘n’ roll classics on repeat. Upstairs the floorboards also shudder underfoot of hectic dancing at the introduction of an electronic music space. Chill out zones appear out back in the lofty courtyard-turned-backyard, complete with a swathe of deck chairs, astroturf and a backyard bar, which also plays host to barbecue block parties on Sundays. During the week this grungy den also becomes home to local bands and musos that fit snugly onto the front stage and let their melodies play out onto the street.
