Opening in time for the warmer months (and the cracking weather that comes with it), Sunsets in Kangaroo Point joined the ranks of Brisbane’s rooftop bar scene in August 2023. The brainchild of the Tuivaiti, Mead and Hartley families, Sunsets is a desert-inspired oasis in the sky, with a north-facing orientation offering near-unbeatable views of the city skyling and The Gabba. The 100-capacity venue boasts an open-plan layout, with low-set couches, high tables and bench seating at the lip of the rooftop ensuring everyone can take in the sights. The Sunsets team has linked up with Alemré Group (the operators behind Olé in South Bank and Hawthorne’s Downtown Istanbul) to devise a food offering that encompasses tapas-style bites and shareable mains – think dips and bread, crispy baby calamari, grilled tiger prawn doused in roasted garlic butter, two kinds of shish, lamb cutlets and whole slow-cooked lamb shoulders. Classic cocktails are available alongside a clutch of signatures, a tight wine list, tap and tinned beers, and some zero-alcohol options.
