The Zoo is passionate about music. Well known for its contribution to the live music scene, The Zoo has become the most long-standing live music venue in Brisbane. Built in 1924, remnants of the historic Shannon’s building still remain – lead light windows, exterior tiling, intricate brickwork within the facade, timber sash windows and street awnings. Carrying a cult-like venue status, The Zoo hosts local, national and international artists and special events from hip hop, jazz, rock, pop, acoustic, folk, dub and reggae. Catering to the independent end of the music spectrum, The Zoo supports emerging up and coming artists.
