Craft-beer fans shed a small tear earlier this year when they heard Fortitude Valley’s pioneering pint peddler, Tippler’s Tap was closing its doors. A sigh of relief was then felt across Brisbane when a new and improved South Bank site was swiftly announced. Shifting operations just 80-m up the road to a space double the size, and room for double the punters, Tippler’s Tap 2.0 is officially opening on Friday June 2. The fresh froth-spot takes pride of place on a 360-sqm space on Grey Street and can comfortably fit more than 200 revellers. Distinctly split into two halves, one half of the venue will provide a relaxed space to partake in a pint (or two) and enjoy a chat with mates, while the other half is a sports bar (airing all major games, including AFL and NRL), fully kitted-out with five 65-inch screens and a wall of self-serve taps. Yep, you heard right. A very first for Brisbane, Tippler’s Tap will be home to 18 tipples (14 beers and four cocktails) that are fully self-serve, allowing punters to pour their own pints, wait in less lines and enjoy a more diverse range of brews. Tippler’s Tap will continue to go to bat for Brisbane’s very best homegrown beverages, boasting a greater array of beer-makers showcased on a boosted number of rotating taps behind the bar (21, instead of 14). Visitors to Tippler’s Tap’s new venue can always count on receiving a quality brew of the lager, dark ale, IPA, pale ale and ginger beer variety, with beers from Brisbane stalwarts Aether, Black Hops, Common Ground, Slipstream and Revel currently amongst the offering. In the kitchen, the Tippler’s team will be pumping out their usual American-style grub, including a range of bangin’ burgers, sliders, loaded fries and of course Tippler’s irresistible dry-rub wings served with housemade blue cheese sauce.
