It’s not the fit-out you come for, it’s the magnificent morsels of North American nosh that are delivered with a serious side serve of hospitality. Attracting food fanatics from across the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Ipswich, wingBlaster dishes its famous wings, pizzas, ribs and burgers to tables or takeaway boxes. Owners Suzie and Jeff Brown found the buffalo wing craving too great after relocating to Australia from Canada several years ago, so decided to fill the wingBlaster kitchen with Canadian, El Salvadorian and Brazilian chefs to twist fresh Rocklea produce and local meat cuts into authentic North American chow. Wrap your mitts around gluten-free wings available in the classic tangy buffalo sauce or honey garlic, honey sriracha, sticky Vietnamese, Korean, teriyaki, honey mustard or Winghis Khan BBQ and take a generous dip into the house blue cheese or ranch dressing. Brave souls can test their stamina on the Chilli Challenge by eating six wings with insanely hot sauce in six minutes to make the Wall of Flame. American-style barbecue pork ribs make a welcome appearance on the menu, as do Philly cheesesteaks, stacked burgers and sides like onions rings and fries. Take a dip below the border with a fresh quesadilla boasting jalapeños, capsicum, onion and cheese, topped with fresh salsa, guacamole and sour cream, or enjoy a taste of Italy by designing your own pizza or making a selection from the extensive options available. The signature Ludius Maximus pizza sees spinach, mushrooms and tomatoes layered upon a pesto base and topped with mozzarella, parmesan and blue cheese, which is the perfect lead-up to a dessert of Nutella and banana calzone, cinnamon-coated churros in Mexican chocolate dipping sauce or a sweet chimichanga with ice-cream. The festive atmosphere is completed by BYO with no corkage fee, live music every Saturday night and boardgames for the kids.
