How do you like to start your weekend?
I’ve learnt to make the most of my weekends when they come around, so Saturday is always an early start. Not my usual 4:00 am wake-up, but first up is a solid weights session at Biologic Labs to kickstart the weekend, and to justify a second breakfast.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
Drop in to Cup Coffee in West End and have someone else make me a coffee for a change.
How do you like to unwind?
Taking my Ducati out for a ride (weather permitting) and blowing the cobwebs out of her engine and my head.
What are your essentials for a well-spent weekend?
A good workout, no paperwork and lots of sun.
What’s something you’ve been meaning to do on the weekend but haven’t got around to yet?
Go camping with no phone and no contact with the outside world.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday evening?
Barbecue a steak, watch the sun go down from my balcony and relax in front of a good TV series.
What are you looking forward to next weekend?
I’m running my first official barista training course at Pourboy Espresso. This one is just for our staff but, if all goes well, it will become a regular thing open to the public and industry.
What are you reading at the moment?
Anthony Bourdain’s Medium Raw.
What inspires you?
My business partner, Mark Bell, with his enthusiasm, his drive and his contagious personality. He has an irrepressible hunger to persevere and succeed, which has got us to where we are today and will get us where we will be in five, ten and 15 years.
What was your childhood dream?
I had a few, ranging from commercial airline pilot to rock superstar. I think fireman was in there somewhere too.
What has been your greatest achievement?
Opening Pourboy Espresso. We just celebrated our second anniversary!
What is success to you?
Achieving your goals, no matter what they are.
What are your words of wisdom?
There’s no point in being stressed over things you can’t change. You’re much better off just staying positive and working through it.
