Ah Australia Day. It’s the one day of the year where the entire population decides it’s a brilliant idea to head to the beach to bask in the sun, fire up the barbecue and feast with friends. If crowded beaches aren’t your thing (or more so the impending traffic jam), round up the crew and head to our city’s mini oasis, South Bank.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Brisbane River, the super-chilled Australia Day at South Bank’s River Quay will be filled with stellar live entertainment and a banging fireworks show to finish it all off. The Fergies will be bringing its high-energy homegrown tunes for you to toe-tap to over lunch, followed by the sun-soaked vibes of Queensland Music Award-winning band Bearfoot. As the sun starts to set, wind down and catch your breath before the fireworks with indie-folk outfit Hollow Coves, with dreamy acoustic melodies that are reminiscent of Angus and Julia Stone.
To celebrate, The Weekend Edition is offering four lucky readers the chance to experience Australia Day in style with a gourmet picnic hamper from Popolo to share with four friends (valued at $90), packed with a next-level charcuterie and cheese spread, fried Sicilian olives stuffed with anchovies, mixed leaf salad, fries, two pizzas of your choice and four non-alcoholic drinks. Enter below for your chance to win.
Australia Day at South Bank is delivered by the Queensland Government in partnership with Brisbane Marketing, and proudly supported by The Weekend Edition.
Competition closes Monday January 22 at 11:59 pm. Winners will be contacted by phone and email.
