GOMA Restaurant and GOMA’s Australian Cinémathèque are presenting this stunning sensory experience centred on The Empire of Scents, a film that poetically captures the profound impact smell has on our memory, emotions and interaction with the each other. Following a viewing of the film, patrons will be invited to dine on a specially crafted meal inspired by scent, expertly curated to reflect the themes of the film. You won’t be going in blind – sensory scientist Dr Sandra Olarte Mantilla and guest sommelier Brenton Jull will guide guests through the unique experience.
The Empire of Scents screening will truly set the scene for a meal to remember – after all, the film takes a deep dive into the science behind why smell is such a powerful trigger for our memory. Armed with the knowledge and insights from the film, diners will be able to truly appreciate the connections between what’s on the plate in front of them and how the aromas affect their food journey.
