There’s no better way to learn a new skill than by giving it a red-hot go, especially when it comes to cooking. Food Connect agrees, which is why it has launched a hands-on cooking school for folks to learn how to cook from scratch using seasonal and native ingredients. All of the produce used in these classes is the same as the foodstuffs found in Food Connect’s weekly veggie boxes, which is sourced from small farms around Brisbane.
Kate Walsh from Real Food Projects has come on board as resident teacher alongside a host of local chefs and artisans. Classes will cover basics including making jams and fermenting, building in complexity to include more artisan skills as butchering 101 and sausage making at home. These cooking classes start from Saturday May 5 and bookings are essential. To find out more information or to register your interest in a class, head to the Food Connect website.
