Hop to it – the giant, glowing bunnies of Intrude are burrowing their way into Brisbane

There's not many creatures more adorable in the animal kingdom than a small, fluffy bunny à la Peter Cottontail. Playing on our communal adoration of all things rabbit-related, Australian artist Amanda Parer is bringing her world-renowned Intrude artwork, featuring giant inflatable bunnies to our shores. The fairytale-like installation will touch down at the riverside precinct of Eagle Street Pier from March 13–29.

The illuminated large white rabbits of Intrude have been popping up the world over, with several different versions of Amanda’s works bouncing around cities like London, Perth, Paris, Boston, Los Angeles and Seoul. In a Brisbane first, six of the inflatable, seven-metre-tall bunnies will hop into Eagle Street Pier – and better yet, this larger-than-life installation is completely free to visit!

Intrude is set to stun with its sheer size during the day and will light up the riverside locale after the sun sets, encouraging visitors to engage with the playfulness of the installation. Although cute and cuddly, these bunnies have a deeper message behind them. Intrude represents the massive environmental threat that rabbits pose to our country’s natural environment, and reminds us on a huge scale that they are one of Australia’s major agricultural and environmental pests.

Eager to check out this colony of big bunnies? Intrude will be taking over Eagle Street Pier from Friday March 13 to Sunday March 29 from 12:00–9:00 pm daily.
