If you’re keen to treat Mum to a truly unforgettable experience, then Motorwagen’s Mother’s Day lunch is the perfect way to thank her for, you know, being your mum. The lavish four-course feast kicks off with a duck parfait ‘Cornetto’ with plum gastrique, hazelnut and bee pollen, followed by your choice of land or sea morsels – there are Hervey Bay scallops served with autumn pear and crustacean crunch or pork loin dished up with mushrooms and Scottish-coffee sauce. Continue to fill your belly with a choice of three tastebud-tempting dishes for your main course – there’s Fraser Island spanner-crab and prawn rossellini pasta with lemon myrtle and prosecco beurre blanc, Black Angus with swede puree, cassava, charred alliums and beef-fat bearnaise or miso falafel served with spiked baba ganoush and lemongrass-chilli jam. It’s only appropriate that you crown your flavoursome feed with the dessert you desire, so finish strong with a choice between gin-and-lemon syrup cake with thyme custard or chocolate gelato made with 70-percent Hunted + Gathered chocolate, brownie bites and caramelised white chocolate.
As they say, the kids are alright, because they have a two-course lunch of their own to dig in to (that isn’t just chicken nuggets and chips). Little ones can dine on their choice of a mini steak sandwich served with hand-cut chips and house-made tomato sauce or ham, mozzarella and basil pizza pockets. They’ll also be able to sharpen their sweet tooth on a stack of crepes topped with hazelnut cream and maple syrup or an ice-cream biscuit sandwich lashed with chocolate sauce. We never wanted to be seated at the kid’s table until now. Motorwagen’s Mother’s Day lunch kicks off at 11:30 am on Sunday May 9. To secure your seat at the table (adults are $85 and kids are $35 per person), pop over to Motorwagen’s website.
