Superordinary is hosting an otherworldly supper club event with Zosia Cooks

This winter, Hamilton-based art venue Superordinary is reuniting with conceptual caterer Zosia Cooks for another immersive dining experience. Following the success of the first event in April, the duo has joined forces again with Zosia Cooks x Superordinary Supper Club Vol 2. slated for Friday, August 16. Inspired by the concepts of promenade theatre, this second event will invite diners on a transportive journey of taste, sound and connection.

From the still-life paintings of the masters to the recent tablescaping craze, food has continued to be a muse for artists across millenia. For conceptual caterer Zosia Orkisz, the intersection between food and art has always been a source of fascination. The Polish chef was working in design before she made her foray into the world of food, enrolling in the prestigious Le Corden Bleu. “I thought, if I’m doing well with something I’m not really passionate about, what could I do with the love of my life, that being food?” explains Zosia.

As a conceptual caterer, Zosia incorporates her fine-art background into her cooking, treating food experiences like design. With a meticulous focus on every sensory detail of the dining experience, Zosia aims to craft a little piece of art through her culinary creations.

This supper-club series has come to life thanks to a collaboration between Zosia and the Northshore warehouse Superordinary. The multi-arts space opened its doors late last year, enticing Brisbane’s art community with artist studios, galleries and event spaces. Superordinary owner Lincoln Savage invited Zosia to join forces earlier this year,  she recalls “He asked, ‘Why don’t we do some cool stuff here?’ It just started as a casual conversation, and has turned into this great collaboration.”

On August 16, Zosia Cooks x Superordinary Supper Club returns to take guests on a sensory feast through the multi-roomed venue. The evening will start behind moving walls with a toast of vodka and natural sparkling wine and a selection of amuse-bouche – an homage to the vodka bars from Zosia’s hometown Warsaw, Poland. Guests then eat their way through scene by scene from a dramatic sit-down table in a smoke-filled void to an outdoor disco for a dessert finale beneath the stars.

The supper club’s winter edition will be scored by Miss Mischief – a DJ project from Sartika that blends ambient house with melodic techno. The wine selection has been completed by Lilly Heenan from Lo-Fi Wines and the sommelier behind Anges Restaurant’s wine list. The casual fine-dining experience is set to be paired with a unique array of wines hand selected by Lilly from viticulture’s finest makers.

For what to expect from an event such as this, Zosia promises “…It is not just a meal; it is an exploration of art, flavour, and the unexpected, all brought to life in a space that champions artistic innovation.”

Early-bird tickets for Zosia Cooks x Superordinary Supper Club Vol 2. are currently on sale now here.
