Lucky Egg
The other week, long-running live-music venue The Brightside celebrated its tenth birthday. A two-day celebration saw punters flock to the Fortitude Valley venue to catch a bunch of bands perform rip-roaring sets, but lost in the weekend’s frenzy of festivities was the news that Lucky Egg – the fried-chicken concept that hatched at The Brightside in 2015 – was making a comeback for the weekend. In great news for fans of Lucky Egg’s crispy chicken burgers, The Brightside team has revealed that Lucky Egg is back at its original home on a permanent basis. Lucky Egg is once again serving a trio of burgers – including the Original Crispy (with Hellman’s slaw and honey-mustard sauce), Buffalo Crispy (with American cheddar, garlic pickles and spinach) and Vegi Crispy (boasting a fried eggplant steak with cheddar, slaw and kewpie mayo) – alongside serves of Dorito popcorn chicken and fries in The Brightside beer garden, Wednesday to Saturday from 6:00 pm until late (or sold out). Lucky Egg’s express window on Warner Street is also open once again for pick-up and takeaway orders.

NOTA Restaurant
If it has been a minute since you’ve dined at Paddington favourite NOTA Restaurant & Wine Bar, we suggest making a booking ASAP – the restaurant is set to close to the public on Saturday August 3. Co-owners and chefs Kevin Docherty and Sebastiaan de Kort recently announced their decision to call time on NOTA’s six-year innings last week, revealing that they would be consolidating operations and transition NOTA’s team to their Newstead restaurant Allonda. From now until NOTA closes its doors, the kitchen will be serving a menu of the restaurant’s crowd-favourite dishes and classic signatures, which include the quail with sweetcorn polenta, beef bourguignon, broccolini with anchovy butter and NOTA’s beloved warm house crumble. During its tenure, NOTA helped lead a resurgence of Paddington’s dining scene. The legacy of the restaurant’s storied Given Terrace digs (which was previously the birthplace of Montrachet) is set to continue, with Sebastiaan and Kevin excited to pass the space onto another hospitality heavyweight. “It’s important for us to honour the community we’ve built by passing over the space to another hospitality wunderkind, who we’re confident will bring a much-needed dining experience to Brisbane,” says Sebastiaan. “We’re incredibly excited to see our much-loved space reinvented.” While details on the venue’s new operators remain a secret for now, rest assured we’ll have details for you when they emerge. Little Provence
In case you missed the news last week, Eatons Hill is the proud recipient of a brand-new bistro from the co-owner of one of Brisbane’s finest French restaurants. Romain Maunier, co-owner of La Cache à Vín in Spring Hill, is today unveiling his new eatery, Little Provence, at Eatons Hill Shopping Village. Drawing inspiration from the cosy neighbourhood eateries of France, Little Provence will serve hearty and warming home-style fare, including cheese souffle (similar to La Cache a Vin’s lauded rendition), 200g Riverina black Angus steak with frites, duck a l’orange, Provence-style lamb shanks and escargot with garlic parsley veloute. There will also be plenty of wine on offer, with Romain drawing upon La Cache’s connections to source a range of French, Australian and New Zealand vino. Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel
Brisbane’s leading curators of competitive socialising is bringing two of its cherished concepts to Brisbane’s south side. On July 26, Funlab will lift the curtain on new Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel locations at Westfield Mount Gravatt, giving shoppers and fun seekers the chance to putt their way through 18 holes of pop-culture themed mini golf, test their brains across ten multi-sensory game rooms, belt out the hits in one of three karaoke-equipped function rooms, and fuel up on crazy cocktails and delicious eats at two themed bars. Both venues will be housed under one roof in a giant 350-person capacity precinct, creating an all-in-one hub of fun-tainment. Bookings for both venues are now live – round up a group of mates and head to the Hijinx Hotel or Holey Moley websites to make a night of it.
