Since South Brisbane’s Hoo Ha Bar closed its Tribune Street doors in July last year, we’ve been waiting with bated breath for news of its new location. Now the time has come … kind of. While searching for the perfect location to tap kegs once more, real estate agents R&W approached the Hoo Ha team with an opportunity to convert its under-utilised showroom space on Melbourne Street into an accessible coffee nook, thus Hoo Ha Coffee Bar was born. After installing new shelving, a sturdy coffee bench and a coffee window at the building’s entry, the Hoo Ha team fired up the coffee machine, serving delicious Fonzie Abbott coffee to locals while they continued the search for a space nearby to resurrect the bar. In addition to the coffee, Hoo Ha Coffee Bar also serves fresh pastries from Crust & Co Artisan Baking, as well as cookies, cakes, and brekkie bars from Cherry Bomb Cakes and indietreats. Hoo Ha Coffee Bar partners with OzHarvest to minimise waste, and will be using the space to host events in partnership with other not-for-profit outfits in the coming months.
