Parisian chic – Belle Epoque opens its chic new patisserie at Southpoint

When the Anthony John Group began the process of relocating the Emporium Hotel to its sizeable Southpoint location, it also marked the departure of a beloved French-inspired hideaway. Belle Epoque – one of the formative tenants of Emporium’s Fortitude Valley hospitality collective – is also on the move, transferring its Parisian-chic patisserie across the river to fresh digs at Southpoint. In addition to its picture-perfect pastries, Belle Epoque will also be delivering champagne breakfasts and a lunch and dinner menu of French classics with a Queensland twist.

Coinciding with Emporium Southpoint’s launch of its anticipated accommodation offering, Anthony John Group’s popular Parisian-inspired patisserie Belle Epoque has also quietly opened to the public. Belle Epoque has been a mainstay of Anthony John Group’s offering since its inception as a French bistro and subsequent evolution into a sweet-treat stalwart, and its new Southpoint venue looks to bridge both of its past incarnations. The space is considerably larger than its former Fortitude Valley home, tidily accommodating 80 patrons between its sunny outdoor and sophisticated indoor portions. Fran John has overseen the fit-out, creating a sense of familiarity by retaining Belle Epoque’s smoky mirrors, mosaic-tiled floor, banquette booths and brass rails. New features include impressive greenery hangers in the ceiling and a purpose-built champagne bar that will soon boast a silver pewter top.

As Belle Epoque progresses through its soft-launch period, the menu will gradually expand with more substantial options. Southpoint’s new executive chefs will be reviewing and revising the menu over the coming weeks, introducing a Queensland spin on French fare with a focus on high-quality seafood. For now, diners can snack on Belle Epoque’s signature array of treats made fresh on site as well as takeaway bites, light brunch options and a luxurious champagne breakfast experience. Speaking of champagne, Belle Epoque’s sophisticated drink selection extends from classic aperitifs to a French-forward array of sparkling, champagne, reds and white wine. The champagne bar will host masterclass sessions with famed champagne consultant Bernadette O’Shea, though anyone seeking a spot to enjoy a sip in seclusion can do so while enjoying the romantic ambience until late.

Belle Epoque is now open to the public, and is also available for private functions. Read more about Belle Epoque in the Stumble Guide.
