Keeping our Kiwi friends and thirsty folk beyond the pond hydrated for almost a decade, East Imperial’s tonic waters and mixers have been a mainstay in bars across the world including the famous Atlas Bar in Singapore and the Faena Hotel in Miami Beach. Now, the much-sipped liquor accompaniment has finally arrived on our shores just in time for summer. Inspired by a 1903 East African recipe, East Imperial is created using a combination of high-quality ingredients sourced from Asia and Africa combined with Javanese quinine – the ingredient that gives tonic water its bitter taste.
Available in 150-ml and 500-ml glass bottles (the smaller bottle being the exact 3:1 mixer to spirit ratio for any signature cocktail), the collection of New Zealand-made tonic waters and mixers are a tasty tipple enjoyed alone, or can be paired with your favourite spirit for a killer homemade concoction. Feeling thirsty? Eager sippers can purchase the tonic waters and mixers on the East Imperial website and at Dan Murphy’s from $50 for a pack of 24 150-ml bottles, with flavours including Kima Kola, Thai Dry Ginger Ale, Yuzu Lemonade and Mombasa Ginger Beer. You can even snag a tasting case of East Imperial’s top-selling flavours in case you’re indecisive like us and can’t choose just one flavour. East Imperial will also soon hit Booze Bud and independent retailers.
