Take a peek at the designs for the new-look Post Office Square

One of Brisbane City's busiest lunch hubs, Post Office Square, is undergoing an exciting redevelopment. The multimillion-dollar revitalisation project will look to enhance the precinct's connectivity and accessibility, with a nature-inspired design scheme injecting a dose of green into the underground hub's aesthetic.

The City is changing in big and profound ways. Development is vastly reshaping the inner city, from landmark projects like Queen’s Wharf to rejuvenation efforts at Eagle Street Pier. But it’s not just these headline-grabbing works that are uplifting the cityscape – even some of our long-running corporate nexuses are scoring a sprucing. The underground arcade of Post Office Square is in the process of a revitalisation, with LaSalle Investment Management undertaking a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the hub, which will look to improve connectivity, accessibility and cosmetic allure.

The Arkhefield-designed changes will see the outdoors brought inside through an exposed ceiling, a biophilic design scheme and earthy finishings that blend with the iconic green space above. Post Office Square’s dining and service offering will also receive a boost as a result of the redevelopment, with announcements of new tenants working across casual dining, express eats and service-oriented retail on the horizon. “Major works will elevate the centre and encourage an extension in the trading hours,
something that is currently lacking in this part of the city,” said Taylor Macri of JLL in a press statement. “The centre will continue trading throughout the refurbishment works and new tenants will open progressively until the project is complete.”

Stage one of Post Office Square’s redevelopment is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, with tenancy submissions still open for best-in-class operators from Brisbane and interstate.
