Anzac Day offers us the rare opportunity to come together and commemorate those who’ve served – on a mid-week public holiday, no less. It’s the perfect event to take a step back and reflect while engaging in some legendary Anzac larrikinism.
This Thursday April 25, the Fortitude Valley pub will be home to an afternoon of entertainment, food and mateship in honour of Anzac Day. From 1:00 pm, expect tensions to be high as The Prince Consort hosts games of Two Up – the famous pastime that’s only legal to play on a handful of days each year. While at the Parlour Bar, you’ll find the Anzac Day AFL match live and loud on the big screen as Collingwood and Essendon battle it out.
If the festivities have you working up an appetite, it’s only right to indulge in some Aussie culinary classics. The kitchen will be cooking up delights from shepherd’s pie to deluxe parmies as well as its mouth-watering Mates Toolbox – an overflowing smorgasbord of brisket, wings, sausages, pulled pork and all the trimmings.
In collaboration with Soldier On, this event hopes to raise funds to support the local not-for-profit in its life-changing work. Soldier On supports defence personnel in the final stage of their military career – their exit from service. The organisation works with recovering veterans and their families in building social connections, pursuing rewarding careers and fostering mental and physical resilience after military service. An afternoon at The Prince Consort this Anzac Day not only lets you indulge in some community spirit, but it also gives you the a chance to help make a difference in the lives of today’s Anzacs.
Book your table for this afternoon here and be in the running to win a complimentary Mates Toolbox meal.
