Fortitude Valley’s Full Moon Restaurant & Bar is hosting a splash of a Thai New Year party

Earlier this year, the Thai-food institution Full Moon Restaurant & Bar made the move across the block to Chinatown Mall, leaving behind the Wickham Street venue it knew for many moons. While the location may have changed, the restaurant’s flair for authentic Thai experiences has most definitely not. On April 13, Full Moon will be ringing in the Thai New Year with a splash. Any Fortitude Valley regular will be well acquainted with the red circle logo of Full Moon Restaurant & Bar. Bannered by neon lights and the comforting glow of a Singha Beer sign, the Thai-food favourite is loved for its bustling atmosphere – as tables feast on street-food classics and toast with buckets of cocktail concoctions.

This weekend, the eatery will be proudly celebrating Songkran Festival of Water – the upcoming holiday that marks the start of Thai New Year. The ancient celebration sees the cities of Thailand erupt into street parties and water fights to wash away the previous year and cleanse for the next one. While you can leave your water gun at home, Full Moon Restaurant & Bar will be hosting a New Years party brimming with tradition, flavour and fun.

“We eagerly anticipate the upcoming Songkran Festival of water, where we’ll take centre stage. I’m thrilled to invite Brisbane food enthusiasts to savour our genuine, homemade Thai cuisine. Don’t overlook the live music performances on our new stage – an experience that’s not to be missed!” says co-owner Peter Nichols.

On the menu, Full Moon’s famous Thai fare will help bring the rich culture of Thailand alive with every bite. Discover Thai staples like tom yum soup, pad thai and green curry, authentically prepared by Full Moon’s team of esteemed chefs. For dessert, be refreshed by snow ice, served with toppings like coconut jelly, grass jelly and palm jelly or indulge in coco sticky rice.
