You may already be familiar with the phenomenal force that is Women of the World Festival, but this year is distinctly different from past events. This year sees WOW running in conjunction with the Commonwealth Games’ massive Festival 2018 arts and culture program, adding a whole new layer of significance to the proceedings. WOW is bringing together women and girls from more than 20 countries in the Commonwealth of Nations – you can join thought leaders, artists and women from around the globe right here in Brisbane over three incredible days to celebrate passion, cultures and diversity as well as getting real about issues affecting women and girls at this landmark event.
Over the course of Women of the World Festival, punters will have their pick of a huge range of workshops, panels, performances, installations and more that all shine a light on unique female perspectives. Some of the huge events coming over for the festival include the sass-laden and thought-provoking Hot Brown Honey, the stunning Veiquia by VOU Dance Fiji, a star-studded Songs That Made Me concert (with the likes of Deborah Conway, Clare Bowditch and Hannah Macklin) and too many more to mention. The range of speakers appearing at WOW is actually enough to blow minds – think Michelle Law, Margi Brown Ash and Yassmin Abdel-Magied for a start. When you add a marketplace, loads of visual art and a general supportive atmosphere, you can guarantee that this festival will be loaded with inspiration.
