For the first major exhibition from Museum of Brisbane’s Easton Pearson Archive, we invited Pam and Lydia to select the designs they felt highlighted the greatest innovations of their design practice and to share the stories behind the evolution of each garment: the design process, techniques, collaborations, experimentation’s, successes and set-backs. Both designers aim to tell a story through their garments, and refer to a variety of things including art, travel, film, literature, music and emotions, combined together to create daring patterns with innovative materials, all with a sustainable ethos.

With more than 3,000 signature garments, accessories, sketchbooks, look books and show footage, the archive captures a pivotal piece of Australian design history and explores the national identity.

The garments will be showcased on more than 60 forms in Gallery One, alongside accessories, look books, sketches and range plans. As part of The Designers’ Guide: Easton Pearson Archive, Vogue Australia’s Sustainability Editor-at-Large Clare Press interviews Pam and Lydia in a series of podcasts, where they discuss their own design practice and the ethics of slow fashion in this era of online and fast fashion, giving you an added insight to the exhibition.  This exhibition will form the basis of the public program built around slow fashion, sustainability and design practice which is set to begin in December.
