Festival 2018 – The One Million Stars Installation

Elsewhere

The One Million Stars installation, presented by the Museum of Brisbane, will be open to the public from the 29th March to the 15th April as part of Festival 2018 during the Commonwealth Games. Open all day and night during the festival, visitors can walk in and out, stay a while and reflect on the light filtering through the iridescent star strings, run your hands along the stars and think about the many hearts and hands that have been part of its creation.

The installation brings Maryann Talia Pau’s vision to life in a large-scale artwork featuring one million stars contributed by star weavers from around the world to inspire light, hope and peace. The artwork aims to immerse visitor, inviting them to step  inside a four-metre high, 15-metre wide dome created from 370 brightly coloured star garlands, forming a kaleidoscopic effect accompanied by a soundscape created by artist Michelle Xen.
