Did you know that long before pepperberry was adding a tasty dynamic to our cheese, it was used medicinally to improve digestion and as a treatment for scurvy? We don’t want to jump the gun, but we’re inclined to believe that bulk consumption of Meredith Dairy’s new pepperberry chevre can only be good for our health. The beloved producer of specialty cheese has unveiled the stellar combo in time for Christmas, perfect for stocking the stuffing of gourmands and impressing guests at Christmas lunch.
Meredith Dairy’s goats cheese with pepperberry is a harmonious pairing of complementary tastes. Acidity of the cheese is balanced by the berry’s sweetness, but the subtle flavours at back of the palate add an extra level of depth. The mix boasts hints of clove, mint and cranberry, which means that the product pairs well with proteins such as duck, lamb, prawns, kangaroo and venison. What’s most magical about the chevre is how it can be used in a variety of ways, be it as a finisher, as core component of a cheese board, or as a core ingredient of an overall dish. You can pick up some pepperberry goats cheese at The Standard Market Co, Rosalie Gourmet Market, The Cheese Pleaser, Hawthorne Garage and at IGA Mount Cotton. Also of note, Meredith Dairy is also launched 550-gram jars of its marinated goat cheese at Coles and Woolworths, which is huge news for any die-hard cheeseheads.
